Incredible peace and tranquility overwhelm you upon entering the grounds of Mayflower Pool. Quickly that turns to anticipation, as you see and hear the big carp crashing out of the water around the lake. It is this combination of tranquility, and the excitement of huge carp that makes Mayflower Pool so unique.
Mayflower Pool offers something for everyone, whether you are a seasoned carp angler, or someone on their first overseas trip. Combining superb fishing in beautiful surroundings, and or warm and friendly staff, we will provide you with memories to treasure forever.
'Unbelievable fishing', superb', 'we have never experienced action like it'. These are some of the comments made by the lucky few who have fished Mayflower Pool.
With over 250 carp - approximately 180 over 30lb, 30 40s and 3 50’s to 58lb, and an average weight of 35lb and STILL growing - this has to be the must lake to fish. With excellent weekly catches , this is the lake for the angler wanting good action but not at the expense of size. Where else can you go and large numbers of carp with an average weight of 35lb, with an excellent chance of 40’s or 50s.
Mayflower Pool is set in beautiful, peaceful surroundings within the Corrèze region of France . Situated down a long no-through lane surrounded by woods and meadows, the lake is a haven of peace and tranquility.
Onsite facilities include toilet and hot shower, kitchen area and fridge. Our English bailiff has lived in the village at the top of the lane for the past three years and is always on hand to help and advise you when requested.
We can't promise you that you will achieve these results, however we can guarantee that the stocks are there for you to catch. For all the above reasons, together with Mirror Pool Fisheries reputation built over the past six years for providing fishing holidays to the highest standard, you can be sure of a holiday to remember.
We allow a maximum of six anglers to fish Mayflower Pool. There is however a covenant in place on the lake that allows the original owner of the lake or one member of his family to fish at any time with one rod and line, so on the very occasional time this happens there will be seven anglers on the lake.

I had booked the lake out for my own weeks fishing with a friend.Unfortunately he had to pull out so i invited Brian the retired bailiff to join me for a few days fishing. Ther week prior the guys had ripped up the place until the Thursday when heavy cold rain over the next two days killed off the action.
Then we arrived i went in swim 2 and Brian in 3. It was still cold and rainy and there was little signs of fish activity. On the second night Brian ad a 41lb mirror. Brian packed up on the Wednsday and i moved in his swim as i had caught nothing and the only signs of fish were in front of swims 3 and 4. I had th wait until Thurday afternoon when the lake suddenly came alive and fish were rolling and fizzing.ver the next 36 hours i had six fish and lost one 45lb,45lb 39lb 35lb ,29lb and 28lb and a couple of tench. All fish came on small pop ups on multi rigs over a boilie crumb and groundbair approach.

The past week saw six anglers on Mayflower two of which were accompanied by their partners so quite busy by comparison to most weeks. All arrived to be greeted by settled pleasant autumn weather a situation that would generally remain until the last night, more of which later.
First time visitors Tony and Dave W selected swims 1 and 2 whilst similarly also first time visitors to Mayflower Dave C and Adam opted for swim 3 with Dave C fishing the open water to the left, this leaving regulars, John and Rob in swims 4 and 7 accompanied by Karen and Sam.
On arrival it was clear that a good number of fish were feeding with fizzing evident in almost all areas so it was not particularly surprising that a total of eight fish came out by the end of Sunday including two forties.
Tony in swim 1 would managed four fish for the week; all Mirrors at 23lbs, 28lbs , 42lbs 7ozs and 52lbs. Next door in swim 2 Dave W faired slightly better with seven fish at 31lbs 9ozs, 34lbs 8ozs, 35lbs 4ozs, 41lbs 4ozs, 42lbs 3ozs (Common) and 44lbs 7ozs.
The pair caught the majority of their fish on 16 or 18mm Icelandic red caviar and cranberry boilies but also regularly fed pellet and some corn as free feed.
In swim 3 Dave C managed a total of six fish with four coming by Monday before the swim went quiet until the latter part of his session, Dave's fish weighed in at 25lbs, 30lbs, 30lbs 9ozs, 32lbs, 32lbs, 36lbs 6ozs and his best at 39lbs 8ozs; all Mirrors.
Next to Dave in swim 3 Adam could only look on and watch Dave catch and by Tuesday the decision was made to move in to swim 6 which quickly produced his solitary fish of his session, a Mirror at 35lbs 4ozs.
John in swim 4 was also having a tough time but fortunately after having to wait until Monday he had his first fish at 35lbs 5ozs followed on the Tuesday by another Mirror at 29lbs then lost one fish but did finish on a new PB Common at 38lbs 6ozs on the final night but in torrential rain John's fish falling to single boilies.
Rob and Sam up in swim 7 started on a nice Mirror at 42lbs 9ozs on the Saturday evening and saw activity throughout the session except for a quiet period on the Monday and Tuesday but Rob managed a credible eleven fish with one twenty at 29lbs 7ozs and eight thirties; five Mirrors at 30lbs 2ozs, 30lbs 15ozs, 31lbs 7ozs, 36lbs 15ozs and 38lbs 9ozs plus three Commons at 35lbs, 35lbs and 37lbs 6ozs and finally his best Mirror of the week at 52lbs 6ozs.
Robs fish fell mainly to good old sweetcorn but three did fall to Sticky Baits Krill boilies.
So whilst not a prolific week the quality of the fish remains high with the week's total of thirty one fish made up as follows:

Of the three anglers on the fishery this past week two had been on a previous occasion but Richard was on his first session in France.
The week ahead would present variable conditions with a combination of pleasant warm conditions punctuated with a couple of heavy showers.
With Richard on his first trip fishing for carp the decision was made that Stuart would pair up with him in swim 7 whilst Dan would start his session in swim 5 later moving into swim 4 then finishing his week in swim 3.
Stuart's session kicked off with a 38lb and 42lb Mirror on the Sunday morning with Richard's rods producing 35lb and 53lb Mirrors on the Monday. Tuesday would see two further Mirrors for Stuart at 27lbs and 38lbs while Richard managed a 39lb Mirror.
Wednesday saw the rare chance to have a 41lb Mirror for Stuart and a 51lb Mirror for Richard on the bank at the same time offering a great photo opportunity. Richard would go on to have a 36lb and 40lb Mirror during the day.
Stuart then decided Friday having seen fish out in front of swim 5 to present a single boilie on a chod rig and quickly picked up a 45lbs 8ozs Mirror and then his final fish from swim 7 a 35lbs Mirror whilst not to be out done Richard finished his session with a third 50.
Unfortunately having put in a lot of work pursuing showing fish and despite his best efforts went a way with nothing to report and very very frustrated.
More positively the majority of fish for Stuart and Richard came to 15mm Plan B boilies presented in various ways but always just on or slightly above the silt. (One small footnote was Stuarts week was topped off with a Tench!)
Whilst the past week produced a modest fifteen fish the average weight came out an impressive 40lbs 7ozs.
So the stats read as follows:
Three 50's (Verified) | Five 40's | Six 30's | One 20 - All Mirrors
For those of you that follow fishery stats I can report yesterday afternoon saw our tenth 50 caught with a further eighty one 40's and one hundred and fifty nine 30's for the season to date, which translates to 27% of all fish caught so far have been 40lb plus.
Undoubtedly after spawning weights will drop but then gradually build again to a high point during the last six weeks of the 2016 season.
